Israel’s Government Collapses

Israel’s government collapsed Tuesday, pushing the country into yet another early election — the fourth in two years.

The Israeli Parliament dissolved itself at midnight on Tuesday. The move forced a new election after weeks of infighting and paralysis in the so-called unity government, an uneasy coalition sworn in just seven months ago

What a shit show. Israel was a fun little post-WW2 experiment that seems to have run its course. They spent a few decades feeling victimized and pretending to be a country, but the whole time, they were just stirring the Middle Eastern pot. One starts to think maybe the #freepalestine people have a point. Granted, everyone in that region has been fighting for thousands of years over who gets to play in what sandbox according to which invisible sky wizard, so frankly, fuck all of them. I’m sick of America sending our troops over there to die trying to break up their pointless, unending wars (or just join them for profit, where the military industrial complex is involved).

Conservative Christians get so caught up in their allegiance to Israel, I really don’t get it. The Jews were “God’s Chosen People” is usually the best answer they can come up with, but I thought God loved everyone? If the Jews really are the favorites, why the hell would you subscribe to a religion where your god says you’re second best? What a joke.
